Shania Morris is a long time youth organizer and lifetime resident of Philadelphia. They shared, “Talking about food access can be really difficult at times; I have access to food in my neighborhood, but the problem is the kind of food. In my community, nutritious food is hard to come by, and if you find it, it isn’t affordable. That’s what has led me to fight alongside community members to take back community control of land. I want to know where my food is coming from, and who it is that I am supporting when I purchase food. I’ve taken a lot of that journey into my own hands when I began farming, now I am a farmer and community organizer fighting for food justice in under resourced communities.”
