Office of Children and Families

Laura Crandall has lived in Philadelphia since 2011 and is the Director of Food Security Initiatives with the Office of Children and Families In this role, she focuses on connecting residents to immediate food resources as well as more comprehensive resources that address the root causes of food insecurity. Laura loves all things food including baking and preserving; birdwatching; and good astrology memes. She believes that a just society is one where we prioritize caring for each other and the land we live on; and where everyone is free and able to thrive. Achieving food sovereignty would mean that local communities, especially those experiencing food apartheid, have the power and resources to produce and distribute their own food in ways that protect and nourish the environment, workers, and consumers.
